Good design and Vastu principles need not conflict. Here's how our designers blend traditional guidelines with contemporary aesthetics.
For many families in Eastern UP, Vastu Shastra is an important consideration when designing a new home. The good news: with thoughtful planning, Vastu guidelines and modern design aesthetics are not mutually exclusive.
Key Vastu Principles for Interiors
- Main entrance should ideally face North, East, or North-East
- Living room in the North-East or East zone encourages positive energy
- Kitchen in the South-East zone (the fire corner)
- Master bedroom in the South-West for stability
- Avoid beams directly over beds or seating areas
Vastu-Friendly Colour Choices
Vastu associates colours with directions. North benefits from green tones. East facing walls look beautiful in light yellows or off-whites. The South-West master bedroom works well with warm earthy tones — which also happen to be a 2025 design trend.
Bedroom Vastu Tips
The bed head should face South or West — never North. Mirrors should not directly face the bed. Clutter under the bed blocks energy flow, which is also a practical reason to invest in an under-bed storage system.
Kitchen Vastu Guidelines
Cooking facing East is considered ideal. The sink (water element) and stove (fire element) should not be adjacent — keeping them on different sides of the counter is both Vastu-compliant and ergonomically sound.
Balancing Vastu and Modern Design
When a site plan doesn't perfectly align with Vastu, our designers use colour, material, and accessory choices to create balance — without compromising the aesthetic integrity of the space. We work with many families who want both, and we've found practical solutions for every situation.
